What I’ve Learned in My Time Here
Sadly, today is my last day here at Pure Pursuit. Eight months has gone so quickly. It doesn’t feel like I started here all the way back in September. But as I look back now, I can’t help but think about everything I have learned here. So I thought I would share it with you all, so you could get a small glimpse into life here at Pure Pursuit and why I love it so much.
1. Start-ups are great.
I’ve never worked for a start up company before, but it was the best experience I’ve had. You get to experience so much working at a start-up. You see the inner workings of a business. It kind of gave me true meaning to my Business Administration major. There are so many challenges but so many wonderful opportunities at the same time when it comes to start ups. You’ll learn a lot working at a start-up. It’s definitely a unique experience (in a good way!).
2. The cars are too!
I think this speaks for itself if you look at our inventory. When you get to walk in to our sales floor and see AMG’s, M’s, and more, you’d know why. See my last blog if you want to know why I love these cars and what I have learned about them. I mean, who wouldn’t want to walk into work to see these beauties? I’m definitely going to miss it.
3. Don’t be scared to have a little fun on the job. It keeps you sane.
Probably one of my favorite memories ever working here was in the first few months I was here. Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” was playing in the office. And all of a sudden I just hear loud banging. It was Grant and Lisa drumming to the song on their desks. I’m pretty sure I jumped like three feet out of my seat because of how loud it was. Listen to the song and you’ll know what part I’m talking about. But seriously, I’ve never had more fun at work, but I’ve never learned more. This memory is just one of the many fond memories I have of this place. Like when Curran was sitting in the sales office with his sunglasses on because “the sun was too bright coming through the windows.” Or listening to Grant sing one of the many songs that come on our radio at work. You just have to be here to experience the joy that is this wonderful team I got to work with for the last eight months.
4. Your co-workers are everything. They can make or break your experience.
If you couldn’t tell from number three, I really enjoy my co-workers. They made my experience so enjoyable, and they also helped me learn so much in my time here. They were always so willing to lend a helping hand and teach me what I wanted to learn, but they were also always there to make me laugh at any given moment. You’ve gotta meet these people. They’re some of the coolest people you’ll ever meet. For real.
P.S. – Look at the flowers they got me for my last day! I’m gonna miss this team!
5. Be proud of the work you do.
This is probably the biggest lesson I have learned. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten excited over a blog I wrote, a Facebook post I published, or a Tweet I tweeted. I’ve always considered myself a good writer (thanks to my high school English teachers!), but I’ve never really taken the time to share my writing with the world. Writing blogs are so fun, and seeing other people’s reactions to them just makes me so proud of the work that I have done while I have been here. Being proud of the work you do also makes your work so much more enjoyable. Seriously, take pride in the work you do. It’s yours. You created it. You shared it with the world. Be proud of yourself.
One last thing. It’s not something I feel like I had to number off, because it is just something that pertains to me. I’ve learned so much here. I’ve found my passion and pursued it. I never really knew how much I loved marketing until I worked here, in digital marketing, for eight months. Its been the best experience, and it’s taught me more than I could have ever imagined. So thank you, Pure Pursuit team, for giving me the best internship experience I could have ever asked for.
Peace out, Pure Pursuit Nation! I’ll miss you!
